About Me as a Designer

Hey! I’m Ethan and making levels has been a dream of mine from a young age ever since I opened up the Far Cry 3 level editor and started making outposts & narrative missions for my brother and friends to play. In my levels, I love telling stories about what's happening in the world as the player travels through the level as well as creating memorable moments that leave the player in awe. Although narrative and 'wow' moments are fun additions, player agency is what I see as key in my levels empowering the player to make choices so they can complete the level the way they feel is best. These editors provided me with a wide look at the different types of design from mission and combat arenas to developing enemy camps and hideouts. However as much as I enjoy making them, I also love playing them with some of my favourites being Horizon Zero Dawn, Fallout New Vegas, and the Arma series.

 

When it comes to making games, I give it my all and try to best fit the team's needs as I enjoy working with teams and learning from them. To aid in my learning I engage in a variety of Design communities that provide invaluable feedback to push my abilities further. My Goal as a designer is to create fun, immersive, and memorable experiences that make the player feel & care about the world they interact with.

Nothing gives me more joy than watching someone explore a level I've made. Well, bar maybe building some Lego! (:
